A much anticipated visit

My cousins Erin and Caitlyn came down from MA this weekend to meet Olive. It was very exciting because I haven't seen Erin in almost 5 years and I've never met her daughter, Cheyenne. Cheyenne was almost born on Leap day last year, Olive was born on April Fools day. It was wonderful to meet Cheyenne. She is a sweet, intelligent girl. At 14 months she is already saying 2 word phrases and has a vocabulary of about 150 words (my cousin Erin, being the very involved and devoted mommy that she is, made a list of most of the words she can say and it is about 150!) and can tell you many of the sounds that different animals make. I wish we all lived closer so we could be more involved in each other's lives. I have a great extended family. So I guess Cheyenne and Olive are second cousins? First cousins twice removed? How does that work? Erin and Jacqueline are first cousins so I'm not sure what that makes their daughters. To make it easier we just call them cousins.
Proud (and rightfully so) mommies.

Aren't those little ducky (or are they chicks?) clips cute? Erin bought them off Etsy! Cheyenne pulled one out of her hair so we put in in Olive's hair. She has a lot of hair for an infant.
I do hope it won't be another 5 years before our next visit. That is too long.

I really want to get up to MA this summer to see my Grandma. She has pretty much lost her eyesight and is having a hard time finding ways to keep busy. I think she is discouraged and a little depressed. I want to see her before something happens to her. Especially since I will be starting college in the fall and I don't know how easy it will be to get up there.

Lord willing, something will work out. In the meantime I really enjoyed my visit with the girls.

Beautiful Baby Girl

Meet my beautiful niece, Olive Evangeline.

She is a love...I think we'll keep her.

New Baby, Thoughts on my Job, and Acceptance.

1. The new baby is PERFECT! We love her. And once I get home from work I will try to upload a picture or two of her. But no promises because our internet is SO SLOW right now. I hate dial up.
2. My job is driving me crazy. Cray-zay! I was so frustrated on Wednesday that I felt like...well, not quite crying, but I was pretty bummed. I don't know. Our new hygienist Missy was here and so was Pam and Maria and when there are other people here my doctor hardly ever talks to me. I think I just figured out that she doesn't need to talk to me when there are other people here. And that's fine. It's just that for the longest time I thought she wasn't talking to me cause she was, I don't know, mad at me? I was at the hospital with Jacqueline on Wednesday morning till 2 AM. I didn't get home till 2:30 AM and I called my doc around 6:45 and left a message on her phone saying I'd be in late. In time for our N2O patient (my co-worker doesn't assist on N2O patients), but not by 8 AM. Honestly, I just couldn't survive off 3 hours of sleep. I ended up calling Pam too since I couldn't speak directly to Dr. H. and I let her know what was going on. When I got to work I found out that Missy was working. I didn't think she was coming in till Thursday so I wasn't there to help her out on her first day (I could get her x-rays, instruments, etc if I had been there, but instead Pam had to double between Doc and Missy). I thought Dr. H was mad at me for not coming in on time. It made me really upset. And then I shook myself and told myself, "I only had 5 hours of sleep (which was interrupted because I woke up to call in and say I'd be late), I just witnessed an intense and emotional situation while helping Jacqueline deliver Olive. I have 2 classes today besides work and I think that what I'm feeling is just exhaustion." And yes, I was exhausted. Knowing what I'm feeling definitely helps me get through a tiring situation, but it doesn't change the fact that since I took this job here with Dr. H I have felt so inept and insecure at my job. I've never felt this way. At all my other jobs I was one of the best employees, I gave 110% effort, I enjoyed myself (except for my brief time at Country Hell. I mean Country Treasures.) and was pretty satisfied with the work I did. I know that all jobs have their ups and downs, but this one has had a lot of downs. I feel like I've tried really hard to be a team player. I've been really flexible with my hours (I took a cut in hours and pay to come work for her and I've covered lots of shifts for my co-workers when they were sick, on vacation, or just needed time off for personal things like out-of-town company/ dr. appts), I don't even really assist that much, I spend time assisting, working the front office and then on Fridays that we aren't seeing patients I clean the office. I've worked hard, but I've had a hard time adjusting to being 1 of 3 assistants and sharing rooms and adapting to different systems than what I was used to when I was Dr. H's only assistant and I had my own system and knew what was in my room(s) at all times. It's a big change. I feel like those things aren't noticed and the only things that are really noticed are when I get something wrong. Like times when I don't know where to place the suction, or what to put into each room for a procedure, etc things that slow us down. I'm not the kind of person who needs to be praised every time I do something right. It's just that I feel like I'm not doing anything right and my Dr isn't really communicating whether or not I am really irritating her or whether she is just stressed out about beginning her own practice and it is making me so frustrated. It's just so different from the other office and from what I thought it would be. I can't wait to go to school this fall so I can leave. I hate feeling that way.
I stopped by Dr. Bonner's office yesterday to show them pictures of the baby (I was showing her picture to anyone who would look at it...she is such a beauty!) and it was so good to see everyone. They seemed happy to see me. Even Dr. Bonner. He gave me a hug and told me not to be a stranger. And to bring more cookies next time (I stopped in during Christmas to drop off some cookies I had made). I missed them. It is nice to know that someone is glad to see you. Throughout the years I've struggled with self-esteem and have had a hard time believing people like me or enjoy my company. Another reason why I'm having a hard time with all that is going on at work.

3. So yeah, I guess now would be a good time to mention that I was accepted to WVU's Nutrition Program! This August I should be moving to Morgantown and working towards becoming a Registered Dietician. I'm really excited about it. Scared, but excited. :)

I hope it will be a good situation. I hope I will learn a lot and enjoy what I'm learning. I hope that what I'm learning will help me be healthier. I just hope I make the most of each opportunity that presents itself and that I will grow closer to God and meet new friends and enjoy being more independent. And I hope that I will find a job that I enjoy! I hope that regardless of my situation I will find time to give thanks for all the blessings I have and that I will see beauty in every day. And I hope I will still be able to be a big part of my niece's life. It makes me sad to think that I'll miss out on a lot of her baby-hood. I just really hope that one day I'll grow up and stop caring about what others think and that I'll be sure of myself and not easily intimidated by others. I hope that the only thing that will matter is what God thinks of me and that I won't feel like I need other people to respect me.
Being young/growing up is not a picnic. Life in general is not a picnic, but if I had to say one thing right now to younger girls it would be: Don't be fooled by what you see on TV, watch on movies, read in books about what youth and childhood and teenage years are supposed to be like. In a lot of ways life is what you make it. You have some decision in how you want to view things. You can see the glass as half-empty or half-full. And trust God and believe that He loves you.

On another note, Becca and I are moving out west to find ourselves husbands. I'll let you know how that goes. It can't be until I finish school so we have 2 years to plan it out and decide if we really want to go. Hopefully there will still be some good guys left when we get there. *cheesy grin* :)

Okay, I'm officially done complaining. I didn't want to use this blog for a dumping ground, but I had to get some of this stuff out of my mind and out where I could see it and analyze it and eventually come back to and say, "that was silly and didn't even matter in the long run."

Now I'm going to go enjoy my weekend and cuddle my niece. She is just SO beautiful. And sweet. And she smells good. And her skin is so soft. So so soft. And her little fingers and toes are so itty bitty. You should see how small her fingernails are. And did I mention that she's beautiful?

My baby's a'comin!

And we're at the hospital waiting for her! So maybe she isn't exactly my baby. But she is my niece and that is the closest I'm going to get to having my own baby for a looooong time!

Jacqueline is doing great! She answered that age old question: To epi, or not to epi? Her answer was: EPI! When we got here she was laboring without the epidural and it was amazing how much more relaxed she was as soon as she got the epidural. She even said the pain from the needle was way better than the contractions. So far everything is going well. I'll be back soon to post pictures.

:) This is just so surreal and so exciting!

Scenes from Jacqueline's baby shower

Isn't this pram cute? Matt got it from someone he worked for recently. Matt and Jacqueline aren't sure how much use they will get out of it, but it is very pretty! So is this! And they know they will get lots of use out of this! Matt's dad, Ben, made this himself. Isn't it beautiful?
We used them to hold gifts during the shower. It was like a sea of pinkness...baby girls are so fun!
All the food...
Like my cupcake tower? I bought one and mom bought one. I love mine! I think I will get a lot of use out of it in the future. Unless I really go on a hardcore diet, which I should do!

It was beautiful!

Looking back on 2008:

What a crazy year! It was so fast! I thought I'd take a moment to reflect on some of the major events of the year (cause I'm sentimental like that.).

Some of the highlights:
  • Blogging. That's probably a funny one to start off with, but I really am thankful for this blog. I have 178 posts from last year to look back on and remember. I'm so glad that I can go back and read those posts and remember the little and large things that happened last year. So much changes in a year's time.
  • Bringing in the 2008 with Cheryl and the Tyners and Beidlers and Josh. I begged and begged my parents to have a party and they agreed and I ended up SO tired that I felt like I was going to fall asleep the whole night. It was still a lot of fun. I'm glad we had a party.
  • Tuesday night Bible studies. These came at a time when I really needed it. The importance of fellowship with believers can't be underestimated.
  • Finding out that I am going to be an aunt. That is actually some of the most exciting news I've had ever. Life is so precious, and this new little life has me so excited that I can hardly contain myself.
  • TEXAS! Need I say more? Maybe not, but I will! I love that state, and I love Cheryl! I had a great time down there.
  • My new job with my old boss. :) It's nice to be back with Dr. H and Pam. Even though work really stresses me out sometimes.
  • Visits with friends. Friends are truly one of God's greatest gifts! Each of my friends are a blessing and I love them and the time we get to spend together whether it's at a Bible study, sewing-get-together, movie night, annual Christmas shopping trip, holiday gathering, etc., it is always a precious thing to spend time with your friends.
  • Going back to school. While I don't particularly like my school or enjoy my classes, I am glad I went back and that I finished the requirements for my 2 year degree. At least I got that much finished.
  • Campus Crusade for Christ. It's been frustrating and discouraging at times, but I'm really glad that I get to be a part of this group. All in all it's been a real blessing.
  • Sneak Peek. A free weekend in DC and an opportunity to meet new people. Fun fun fun!
  • Cheryl's visit in October. Cheryl is one of my favorite people. Hands down.
  • Phil Keaggy and Fernando Ortega concert. Those guys knocked my socks off. They were A*W*E*S*O*M*E!!!
  • Thanksgiving with the Freys. I got to be a Frey for a day and it was fun!
  • The price of gas dropping to below $2 per gallon!
  • Christmas with my family. It was one of the nicest and most relaxing Christmases I've had in a long time. It was 'loverly.'
  • RADIATE 08. 5 days in DC with Cru and bringing in the New Year with new friends met there. It was a good conference. The speakers were awesome. But that's for another blog post, which will come soon!
So those are some of the highlights of this past year. It was a good year. Here are some of the not-so-amazing things that happened, but were still pretty big:
  • Getting laid off at my job. Layoffs really stink. I feel sorry for people who go through them.
  • My sister's miscarriage. It affected us all. Not only were we really sad that their baby died, it is just really hard to see the ones you love in pain and grieving.
  • Gas prices reaching $4 a gallon.
  • My job at Dr. C's office. While this wasn't totally bad (I mean I got paid to be there and it was experience and a reference) it wasn't my favorite job.
  • The election. Not only was this one of the nastiest elections I've seen so far, I was also disappointed with the outcome. And that's all I'm going to say on the matter.
  • Seeing all our Weimaraners leave. I miss my little Hank. And Dancer. And even Jumper. Goodbye forever.
  • I got my first cavity and filling. It was quite an experience. I feel like I can relate to the patients better now. It sounds weird, but aside from the shot (which really wasn't that bad) I kind of enjoyed it. It was a different experience. And I wouldn't let any other doctor except the one I work for give me a filling because so far she is the best doctor I have worked with, and I've worked with 5 dentists by now.
  • Grandma getting sick and losing her vision.
  • The move, which never happened. I'm not sure if I should put this under the 'great' category or 'not-so-great' category. It made life a lot more stressful which wasn't great. It is not going to happen anymore so now we have some idea of what's going on in our life which is 'great!'
You know, even during the difficult times that tried us and discouraged us, I can look back and say Jesus was with us during the whole thing. And I can say that Jesus loved us through the whole thing.

So that is my brief recap on 2008. Here's to the New Year and all the joys and trials and opportunities and obstacles that will come with it. Here is to family and friends and to a Savior who loves me and everyone else more than I can even fathom.

Now I'm off to take a bunch of vitamins and cold medications (I got sick from my week in DC) and I'm going to bed!
G'night!

One last thing....

Yay for 'Falling back!' I'm sure I wasn't the only one who enjoyed that extra hour of sleep!

Phil Keaggy and Fernando Ortega concert

Those guys came to the Weinberg Center in Fredrick, Maryland a few weeks ago and we got to go see them. They were so good! I didn't really know anything about Fernando Ortega before this concert, but he is very talented. I have been listening to the few songs of his that I am able to get my hands on, and I am really enjoying them. This is the lobby area. You could buy drinks and candy down there. Adam bought 4 packs of skittles and ate them all during the concert.
I got a (lousy) picture of the stage before they turned the lights out and brought out Phil Keaggy (who did a fabulous, amazing, terrific, beautiful and outstanding job, if I do say so myself. I'm so excited that I got to see him in person! I've been listening to him since I was 6 or 7 years old!) who went first during the concert. I would have taken his picture, but Kim *the lady usher* said we weren't allowed to take any pictures during the concert. I wanted to sneak a couple of pictures without my flash, but decided to stick to the rules. I wonder if they would have kicked me out if I had tried to take a picture....hmm...

It was an excellent concert. The best one I've been to. Both Phil and Fernando were talented and connected with the audience really well. And they're funny too! I was teasing Dad saying that now I've finally been to a concert that wasn't a Petra concert. He said, "oh, is this the second concert you've been to?" No, Dad, but the other 3 were all Petra concerts. It's funny that he should have asked that because he was at all 3 with me. :)

Downtown Fredrick is cute. I love visiting downtowns of new places. We walked around a little bit before the concert and stopped at Starbucks. I'd like to go back sometime.

Sneak Peek Weekend! Be prepared: this is a LONG post!

Okay, so I'm going to finally take a break from my homework (yeah, still not finished) and show some pictures of my weekend in Arlington . Sneak Peek weekend is a conference held in Arlington, VA by Campus Crusade for Christ where 2 students from each school in the Mid-Atlantic region (VA, WV, DE, Washington DC, MD, PA, and NJ) are welcome to stay at a Marriott hotel for free for 2 nights and learn about Cru's Christmas Conference: RADIATE. You get information, brainstorm on ideas for the conference and for ways to promote the conference on your campuses. You also get to meet a bunch of other students, interns and staff members and get a 'sneak peek' of what the conference itself will be like.We stayed at the Crystal City (or Crystal Gate???) Marriott hotel and it was beautiful!
Here are some pictures of my room. There were 4 people to a room, so this is before it got all messy with bags and clothes and hair products and cell phones and the things one finds in a room after a bunch of girls have been in there long enough. You can see my cell phone and jacket and yarn and bags on the bed already so multiply that by 4 and spread it around the room a little bit. You'll get the idea. :)
When I got there one of my room mates stuff was already in the room. She wasn't there though so I took a few minutes to take some photos before calling Adam to find out where he was. He was up in his room (#666...no, I'm not joking!) dropping off his stuff. We met up and went downstairs to the lobby.
This was just a teeny tiny corner in the main lobby. From there Adam called Mike (WV Campus Crusade's intern who came down for the event) and he met us down there along with 2 other girls from WV Wesleyan College. These girls got there later than we did and it turns out that they were 2 of my room mates! They were awesome! They were also from the only other campus in WV that sent people to Sneak Peek. Apparently there are 40 schools in WV, but we were one of the only ones who sent people to get information on RADIATE to take back to our schools. We're hoping that students from all over WV (and from the campuses in other states that didn't send students to Sneak Peek) will still come out for RADIATE.
(Adam, Tiffani and Lauren.)

At 7:30 all the students (about 70 for Sneak Peek, they are expecting between 800 and 1000 students for RADIATE) along with interns and staff met in the Alexandria room to start our meeting. We saw a promotional video for RADIATE 08 and went over the tentative schedule for our weekend as well as the tentative schedule for RADIATE in December. We did a mixer too so everyone would get up and meet new people.
Meet Mike. He is the WV intern. He was a lot of fun. A lot of the other interns were off doing their own thing, but Mike really stuck with the WV group and we all had a lot of fun together.
After our first meeting at Sneak Peek, all 70 of the students and the interns and the staff grabbed their sweatshirts and jackets and bags and we all met downstairs in the Marriott at about 9:30 pm. We were going into Georgetown. There is a metro station underneath the Marriott we stayed at, so we just went down to the station and hopped on the metro. Only it took about 20 minutes for a metro train to finally come by so it was almost 10:00 pm before we finally boarded the train to get to Georgetown. It was some of the students' first time in DC or on the metro. I've been to DC a few times and ridden the metro a few times, but never at 10 pm with a bunch of college students. It was fun. After being on the metro for awhile and doing a lot of walking we all got to Georgetown. Pretty much all the stores had shut down except for ice cream shops and coffee shops, so that's pretty much where we all hung out. We met a lot of the students including Erin (in the picture below). While all the students that were at Sneak Peek are going to college in the mid-Atlantic region, a lot of them are not originally from that region. Erin is from TX (yeehaw!) and is going to school in DC. We met another guy who is from Michigan (or Wisconsin maybe?) who is in school somewhere in the mid-Atlantic region.

The staff said they would be heading back to the hotel at 11:45 pm and anyone who wanted to go back with them at that time needed to meet at a certain point. I was exhausted and there was no way I was going to try and remember how to get back to the hotel by myself, and a lot of others felt the same way so most of us headed back to the hotel with the staff. However, a few of the students decided to stay out later, including one of my room mates, Kayleigh. She didn't get back to the room till 1:30 am. I She goes to school at Radford in Virginia. She was a very sweet girl. It was about 12:30 before we got back to our rooms. We were so tired. By the time everyone had showered and come in from DC it was past 1:30. We all woke up around 6 am.
(Adam, Mike and Erin releasing some energy during a session break.)

The whole group met back downstairs in the lobby in the morning and went down into the basement of the hotel to get breakfast at Dunkin Donuts. In addition to having a metro station down there, there are also a bunch of restaurants and stores. There is pretty much a mall down there. After grabbing breakfast we met back in the Alexandria room for Bible study and brainstorming.
This is the poster for Radiate 08. Basically it is hearts (love) raining down on DC (not sure if you can see it on the poster). The theme this year is Radiate His Love. Around lunchtime we took a break and took a little tour of the Marriott. Radiate will be at the same Marriott that Sneak Peek was in. The staff took us all around and showed us the ballroom where the conference will be held. To get there from the Alexandria room we had to go through the gym (I would have taken pictures but there were people working out in there and I didn't want to annoy them) and down past the pool.
Here is the ballroom. It's really big. It has to be though in order to hold between 800 and 1000 students. That's not counting interns and staff. They will be having the seminars in this room.
They were setting up for a wedding in there while we were taking our tour.
We finally had lunch! The first bit of protein I had that weekend. When I go back for the conference I am bringing food with me for 2 reasons. 1. It's way cheaper. 2. It's way healthier. This was probably the most nutritious thing I ate that weekend. We had lunch at Potbelly. I'd never heard of it before. It was under the hotel in the mall and it is a sandwich shop. You go through and pick out what kind of sandwich you want and they're really good. And they have whole wheat options there too so that's cool.
The West Virginia people: Adam, Lauren, Mike, Tiffani, me. My other room mate, Kayleigh, took our picture for us. After lunch we went back to the Alexandria room and did more brainstorming and we also took an hour where we split into small groups to pray.
The conference ended at 5 pm on Saturday. Most of the students went back to school that night. Everyone from WV stayed the second night. Around 7:30 or so we all decided to meet downstairs in the lobby. We got coffee and sat in the seating area pictured above. We talked about our campuses, about Campus Crusade for Christ, about the conference, why we were in school, what we wanted to do after school and just got to know each other better. We ended up all going to Mike's room and did a devotional. I loved our WV group. I met a bunch of wonderful people at Sneak Peek. There were so many people who told us they would be praying for us and for our school. So many of them swapped email addresses with us and we are keeping in touch over the internet. But for some reason, I think that those of us who came from WV really bonded. In less than 48 hours, we felt like family. I am not trying to be cheesy here. I really can't wait to see them all again and meet more people at Radiate in December!
(Tiffani, Lauren, Kayleigh, me=best roomies at Sneak Peek.)

We ended up getting to bed late again and were up early again. I think I only got about 8 hours of sleep the entire weekend. I spent this whole week getting over exhaustion and a cold. It was totally worth it though. I'd go back in a minute. We left around 9 am on Sunday morning. Now I totally can't wait to go back in December. We will be there for 4 nights instead of 2. One of the days we are there we will be going back to Georgetown as a group to talk to people about salvation. We are supposed to learn a lot about sharing the gospel at the conference. I am SO excited!

I have a bunch more pictures of people I met there, including students from other community colleges! It was a really encouraging weekend, and I could really feel a lot of love from the people at Sneak Peek. It encouraged me to be more loving towards the students at my school and to be praying for them. I was also encouraged to trust God to make our ministry at school an effective one and to trust Him with everything in my life right now. If I wrote down everything that happened and everyone I met at Sneak Peek, I'd probably never finish this post.

Okay, I'm going back to finish my speech homework. I have another speech this week (blah) but once that's over I have an exciting weekend to look forward to. Cheryl is coming to visit us this Friday and I can't wait to see her again!

We'd all like t'vote for th' best man, but he's never a candidate. ~ Kin Hubbard

How funny that McCain chose a woman as his veep? I'm sure I wasn't the only person who was shocked by this. I think that is a pretty interesting move on his part. So far, I am impressed with her. She has 5 kids. She's 44 and had a baby with Downs Syndrome this past April so she is pro-life and pro-family. She worked her way into politics through the PTA group at her school and her husband is a commercial fisherman. Her oldest son enlisted in the army last year will be deployed to Iraq this year. She seems to be in tune with the middle class family who have larger families, kids in the military, and are pro-life conservatives since no one running this year really seemed to care about pro-life voters. Maybe that is what our country needs. Someone who knows what normal people are dealing with. Maybe this will motivate me to figure out what is going on with my voter's registration card (why I don't have it yet) so I can vote this fall.

A meeting

Yesterday Mom, Adam and I met with a guy from Campus Crusade for Christ to talk about starting up a group on our campus. Yes, our campus is a community college, not a 4 year school. Yes, our school only consists of 1 floor of an old mill and sometimes the old, abandoned cafeteria upstairs. Yes, our student population isn't very big and has a very diverse age group. Yes, to all those things and more, but how great would it be to have a ministry on our campus? I've said it before, I hated going to school (I will be the first to stand up and say a lot of our teachers are mediocre and some are downright lazy and don't teach, but this isn't supposed to be about bashing our school...we'll save that for a different post sometime). And I still do. But I would love to help start up a ministry on the campus. How different would my school experience have been if there was a group like this set up when I got there? It might have been way different! Having a group of believers to encourage and pray with and for each other and the school and study the Bible with would have been SO awesome! But since there wasn't, I may be given the privilege of helping start one. I'm really excited! And one of the coolest things is there are at least 3 other people besides Adam and me (5 people isn't a big group, but at least there are 5) who want to help too and maybe more. We're still trying to find out who is interested. I hope that God will bless this group and bring about great things on the campus. Who thought I would actually be excited to start school? (I'll give you a hint, it definitely wasn't me!)

Happy Birthday Holly!

Holly turned 14 on Monday. She requested Oreo pies for her birthday instead of a cake. The little deviant! But they were good so no one minded.
Here she is snuffing out her candles with her fingers. I was never able to do that. She is hardcore (that's my new favorite word, ha ha)!

Happy Birthday Holly! I hope this new year is amazing!

A new American citizen!

Who knew that Hallmark actually sells cards on becoming a citizen? You learn something new every day! Congrats Sarah! We're so happy for you! Thanks for letting us celebrate with you.
Jacqueline made a yummy cake using a recipe found from Pioneer Woman's blog.
It was a hit with everyone!

July 18th, Adam's birthday.

Here is a picture of the cookie cake with cookie dough ice cream that we froze. It was REALLY hard. It was also really good. :) This picture is really bad!"So I'm 18 today...not a kid anymore." Don't worry, it just gets better from here out, Adam! Take it from a 19 year old. :)
Isn't he cute?
Matt and Tasha Landry were down from Ohio visiting Matt and Jacqueline. They came over to have cake with us. It was great seeing them again. It's nice knowing too that if we ever make it to Ohio, we already know people there! They are a neat couple. :)
Becky and Andy came down too with Jonathan. They were showing their house. We are hoping and praying that God will bring them (and us for our house too) the perfect buyers for their house. I'm sure it will be a great relief for them to not have to worry about the house down here.

(Credit goes to Holly because this is her picture, not mine. Mine was not as good as this one so she kindly agreed to let me use this one here!)
We ended up playing dutch blitz till what? 10:00? Maybe later. Our Matt is very good at this game. He whipped us on the first round. On the second round we divided into teams with a guy and a girl on each team and the girls would play each other on one round and the guys would play each other on the other round. Andy and I were on a team and we won! I don't win often. I think I generally play games because someone has to be the loser and it's usually me. It was nice to win for once.

It was a really nice weekend. I didn't get any pictures of Aunt Liz's visit, but we enjoyed seeing her and Kola (her Shiba Inu [it's a dog]). It's nice to have at least one aunt nearby after having them all so far away for most of our lives. I only wish we could visit with her more.

Happy Birthday Mom~

I know this all happened back on June 30th, but I didn't get a chance to really blog about it till now. So lets go back in time 3 weeks to my Mom's birthday. :) Here she is. 50 years young. :) She does look young doesn't she? I hope I look as good as my mom when I'm 50. There she is with her candy cake that Dad came up with and I put together.

My mom is one of the most important people in my life. She is has basically spent her whole married life taking care of her family. She's not just my mom, she's my friend. And my psychologist, ha ha. I say that because I'm always going to her to get advice or to think things through. She's a pretty amazing person!

I love you, Mom!

Oh by the way...

I got the job I interviewed for today. I'm really excited. I think it's going to be a good situation. I wasn't even looking for another job in the dental field. I said I didn't want work in another dental office but this practically fell in my lap so I'm going to trust that it is from God. I'm excited!

I haven't written in awhile so this might be kind of long.

Last Friday Jacqueline, Becca and I went back to Shep-town and Shaharazades.  Jacqueline decided it was high time she got to go too and everyone was more than happy to go back. :)  Especially since last time I didn't get to photograph the scones.  We ordered the tea service and it was really nice.  Here are some photos.

Look at the teacups we used.
The table beside ours.

This past Sunday was my great grandmother's 100th birthday.  She still lives at home and this past winter she fell outside her son's car and got a bruise.  She didn't break anything, she just got a bruise.  I'm glad I have those genes!  We don't live down there and aren't close to my dad's family so I don't have any pictures of her.  But I thought I would mention it here.

Today is my Mom's birthday.  She is turning 50.  I don't have a picture of her here yet either, but I probably will before the day is out.  I'll just have to edit it in. :)  Mom is gluten intolerant so Dad came up with the idea to make her a candy cake.  We bought a lot of candy and a foam brick and covered it in tin foil and then hot glued the candy (wrapped of course) to the tin-foil covered foam brick.  Or I should say I covered it.  Dad just gave instructions on how he wanted it done.  Jacqueline captured the action on my camera, lol.
Hard at work.  Dad's a slave driver!

Happy 50th!
Have some diabetes!

I'm leaving for Texas on Wednesday.  We leave here probably around 5:30 to get there by 7 something.  Our flight leaves at 9:40.  I am a little nervous.  Whenever I have to fly it seems like the TV has some kind of show about plane crashes and last night on Dateline the show was 10 Scariest Escapes from Death and we saw 6 and probably 4 of those 6 were related to airplanes crashing.  Planes catching on fire, engines blowing out, hijacking, etc.  But they escaped so that was a positive thing.  I'm mostly excited.  So I probably won't be on here until after I come back.  Hopefully I'll have lots of pictures to show when I come back.  That is if I can find my camera's battery charger!
Talk to you guys later. :)
