Reconnecting
This is Towns. He is one of Jumper and Dancer's many children. I think he was from their 3 litter. He's a beautiful boy, even though he carries a little extra weight. What a sweet, laid back and well trained dog! I was very impressed!
He belongs to Josh and Denise and they were going away for a couple of nights so we brought him down to our house and watched him while they were out of town. He looks so much like both Jumper and Dancer and his face is almost identical to Hank's. Probably because they are brothers. It makes me miss those dogs so much. Someday, I will own another Weimaraner (I hope). Even though I am told every day that Newfoundlands are the best dogs in the world, there is still a very special place in my heart for Weimaraners. It was fun reconnecting with Towns while he was here.

Time off...
Well, our internet is down for awhile. I've been really busy with school and work so between being busy and not having an internet connection, I probably won't be on here too much for awhile.
Cheryl is here for the weekend! Matt, Jacqueline and Adam are all out of town this weekend. Matt and Jacqueline are in Ohio and Adam is in the western part of the state for a Campus Crusade for Christ retreat. That means Mom, Dad, Holly and I have Cheryl all to ourselves. :) We are also watching Towns for the weekend while Josh and Denise are away. Towns is one of Jumper and Dancer's puppies from their 3rd (?) litter. He's a beautiful dog. It makes me miss our Weimaraners so much. Lately I've really missed them.
On a lighter note, I finished all my homework early and have gotten a head start on next week's work and was able to download a lot of my work so I can do it without being online. So now I am looking forward to a weekend of fun and company. It's supposed to be a beautiful weekend, maybe I'll get some good pictures!
I hope you all have a good weekend too. I'll check back in later~

Sneak Peek Weekend! Be prepared: this is a LONG post!
Okay, so I'm going to finally take a break from my homework (yeah, still not finished) and show some pictures of my weekend in Arlington . Sneak Peek weekend is a conference held in Arlington, VA by Campus Crusade for Christ where 2 students from each school in the Mid-Atlantic region (VA, WV, DE, Washington DC, MD, PA, and NJ) are welcome to stay at a Marriott hotel for free for 2 nights and learn about Cru's Christmas Conference: RADIATE. You get information, brainstorm on ideas for the conference and for ways to promote the conference on your campuses. You also get to meet a bunch of other students, interns and staff members and get a 'sneak peek' of what the conference itself will be like.
We stayed at the Crystal City (or Crystal Gate???) Marriott hotel and it was beautiful!
At 7:30 all the students (about 70 for Sneak Peek, they are expecting between 800 and 1000 students for RADIATE) along with interns and staff met in the Alexandria room to start our meeting. We saw a promotional video for RADIATE 08 and went over the tentative schedule for our weekend as well as the tentative schedule for RADIATE in December. We did a mixer too so everyone would get up and meet new people.
The staff said they would be heading back to the hotel at 11:45 pm and anyone who wanted to go back with them at that time needed to meet at a certain point. I was exhausted and there was no way I was going to try and remember how to get back to the hotel by myself, and a lot of others felt the same way so most of us headed back to the hotel with the staff. However, a few of the students decided to stay out later, including one of my room mates, Kayleigh. She didn't get back to the room till 1:30 am. I She goes to school at Radford in Virginia. She was a very sweet girl. It was about 12:30 before we got back to our rooms. We were so tired. By the time everyone had showered and come in from DC it was past 1:30. We all woke up around 6 am.
The whole group met back downstairs in the lobby in the morning and went down into the basement of the hotel to get breakfast at Dunkin Donuts. In addition to having a metro station down there, there are also a bunch of restaurants and stores. There is pretty much a mall down there. After grabbing breakfast we met back in the Alexandria room for Bible study and brainstorming.
We ended up getting to bed late again and were up early again. I think I only got about 8 hours of sleep the entire weekend. I spent this whole week getting over exhaustion and a cold. It was totally worth it though. I'd go back in a minute. We left around 9 am on Sunday morning. Now I totally can't wait to go back in December. We will be there for 4 nights instead of 2. One of the days we are there we will be going back to Georgetown as a group to talk to people about salvation. We are supposed to learn a lot about sharing the gospel at the conference. I am SO excited!
I have a bunch more pictures of people I met there, including students from other community colleges! It was a really encouraging weekend, and I could really feel a lot of love from the people at Sneak Peek. It encouraged me to be more loving towards the students at my school and to be praying for them. I was also encouraged to trust God to make our ministry at school an effective one and to trust Him with everything in my life right now. If I wrote down everything that happened and everyone I met at Sneak Peek, I'd probably never finish this post.
Okay, I'm going back to finish my speech homework. I have another speech this week (blah) but once that's over I have an exciting weekend to look forward to. Cheryl is coming to visit us this Friday and I can't wait to see her again!

Saturday
It is finally the weekend and I am so incredibly exhausted I can hardly get anything accomplished. It is an awful feeling. Ever since I came home from Sneak Peek I have been so fatigued that I'm starting to scare myself. On Thursday I drank 3 cups of coffee just trying to keep my energy up. This whole week I have felt that as soon as I stop moving I am going to fall sound asleep, and while I am moving about throughout the day, all I can think about is how tired I am. At night-time as soon as my head hits the pillow I am completely out. Driving is hard too because I am so zoned out. I ran a red light this week because I was at the front of the light and someone behind me honked and I immediately started to go because I thought the light must have turned green and I wasn't moving fast enough when really whoever honked was probably honking at someone else. Luckily, no one was coming and no one was looking so I didn't get into an accident and I didn't get a ticket. Basically what I'm saying is I am super fatigued, and my mind is all fuzzy. And driving at night is horrible because the lights from other cars is killing my eyes. When a car passes me I slow way down because I am a little bit blinded while they go past me. And don't even get me started about driving at night while it's raining! That was torture! I do not remember having this much trouble driving at night last year. I liked driving at night.
So I took very large amounts of zinc, selenium, B-12 and fish oil yesterday and today I am still worn out. I'm going to go take some more vitamins, do my homework, and then take a nap. I'll catch you all later~

Busy as can be...
I had an amazing time at Sneak Peek. I hardly slept and spent the whole week trying to recover (I ended up with a cold and have been living off coffee trying to make it through each day), but it was still once of the most awesome weekends I've ever had. I can't wait to go back in December for RADIATE! But more about that at a future post. I do have pictures to show once I finish the mountain of homework I put off doing till this weekend. I seriously have 2 papers to write, a test, and a project to complete before Sunday. And I have to prepare a speech and study for another test and do an interview for another class all by Wednesday. I am hoping to get caught up and *maybe* ahead for next week! Key word here is: hoping. :)
Our Campus Crusade meeting was pretty good last night. In addition to Adam, Richard and myself, we had 2 people stop in to say hello. I've been praying for one of them and had an opportunity to meet her friend. They didn't stay very long, but they said they might come back at another time. We went over the surveys that we passed out. Out of 100 surveys we got 42 back. And surprisingly, only one was filled out by an alleged satanist that is 666 years old and likes to cuss. I was expecting more like that. We found out that the majority of people who filled out surveys at our school believe that Christians are hypocrites (not too surprising, and I agree with them). It was interesting.
I am back to eating chocolate. Yes, I caved, but even though I am eating chocolate, I have lost 3 lbs. So I am hoping to continue eating less junk food and more fruits and veggies.
Alrighty, I'll be back after I've finished my homework. If I'm not back by Sunday night, send out a search party, I may need to be dug out of all the work I am doing.

New addition~
Holly finally got her drums! She is pretty good too. She has very good rhythm. She, Adam and Josh had the guitars out over the weekend and were jamming. Very loudly. I went down in the basement to see them playing and my ears were ringing when I went upstairs. Holly has a video on her blog.
It is a pretty drum set.
I am leaving in a few hours for Arlington Virginia for Campus Crusade's Sneak Peek weekend. It is a sneak peek of what is going to be going on during the Christmas conference: Radiate '08. I am excited! I will be taking lots of pictures and hope to have a lot to show you by the end of the weekend. In the meantime, I really need to finish up a little more homework before I leave and pack (not exactly in that order).
Talk to you guys later~

Happy Monday...sort of
Here it is. Another week. With all the trauma and drama of a new week waiting to unfold. So far it's been an eventful day. The news this morning was all abuzz with the situation regarding the stock market and the banks. I missed a chiropractic appointment today without realizing it. Luckily I'm not being charged a late fee! Plus other crazy stuff. In addition to that my sister was telling me about their new place and how crazy everything with that is. I think they are happy to be in their new place though. I am hoping to get over there early before Bible study this week to check it out. :)
I have been trying to clean out some stuff in my room (big surprise) and I have a post about that once my camera battery recharges. I also have a post about a new addition in our home once my battery recharges. I would like a spare camera battery, but the battery that my camera takes costs $50+ bucks. That is just crazy. It may sound funny, but I'd rather go buy a better camera than buy an extra battery. So for now I will just stick to recharging my trusty little Sony camera. It's been a good little machine so far.
Dad bought a shredder so he can shred documents and UPS delivered it today. So far he and Holly have shredded a couple pieces of paper, an old credit card, and a cd. I didn't know those things could shred cd's but it's kinda cool. It's just a really cheap manual shredder, but shredders are so fun. :) I used to like shredding stuff at work.
I really should be doing my homework right now and not putting it off till later in the week. I just can't concentrate. It's so frustrating! Maybe I'll go finish sorting through stuff in my room.
I'll be back when my camera battery has finished charging~

Another week is over!
And I am glad for it! It has been a long and tiring week including events such as starting a new job, giving a speech that was completely half-baked (I realized it was due a day and half before I was supposed to give it...whoops!), tests at school, Campus Crusade meetings, orthodontist appointments, homework, homework, and more homework. Did I mention that I had to do homework? I made some progress on my Microsoft class. I think I actually submitted an assignment correctly! That's pretty exciting! I even got a head start on next week's assignment. I will probably have it finished on Monday of next week because Adam and I are planning to go to the Sneak Peek weekend next Friday-Sunday and I need to have all my homework submitted before I leave. So that means I have to buckle down and finish all this stuff early! At least I don't have any tests or speeches to do this week! That makes me happy. :)
You know what else makes me happy? I got a %96 on my art test and I really didn't study at all (not that that is a good thing. I know I have a time management problem, but I think that going to every class and paying attention and taking notes helps me alot.)!
We had another Campus Crusade meeting today. Besides Adam and myself, Janice came. And of course Randy came and so did his intern. I had hoped more people would come, but even just having three makes me happy. There were several others who said they would come, but didn't. We have been having fewer and fewer people show up for meetings each week. We said we could change the meeting time, but I don't know if they aren't coming because the time is bad or if they just aren't interested. We're trying to figure this out. It is a little discouraging. Okay, it's very discouraging. I'm just trying to keep in mind that this is God's group and He can get it going and keep it going if it's His will.
I decided to not eat anymore chocolate until my birthday (11/1). Strangely enough, I haven't been craving it. I know that cutting out chocolate doesn't seem like much, but usually any junk food that I eat contains chocolate. So by cutting out chocolate, I am pretty much cutting out most sugary foods since I can't eat anything sticky either (braces...the anti-sugar addiction...well, maybe not totally, but to a slight degree). The goal? To try and get my blood sugar to level out, and ditto that for my hormones. And maybe lose a pound or two. Or 5. Or more. I'll take whatever I can get. Or lose.
Anyway, it's been a long day and I should finish up some homework before I hit the hay.
Ciao folks~

Ahh...memories...
Today on the way to school I almost hit a deer. It was in a convenient place actually (if there is ever a convenient place to hit a deer), we had just turned out of the driveway. I gasped and slammed on the brake and I think I scared Adam in the process.
On the way home I told Adam to help me keep an eye out for deer. It was dark and I was scanning to see if there were any deer eyes showing. You know what it reminded me of? Well, no, you probably don't (Jacqueline and Mom might), so I'll tell you.
While we lived in Ayden, Dad bought a hand-held spotlight. One fall we would all get in the suburban at night and drive near some fields and look for deer with the spotlight. I remember liking it. Getting in the car with my family at night and looking for deer. Now we have deer that live next to our house and jump out at me while I'm driving. So driving at night on the lookout for deer doesn't have the same appeal anymore. I am not sure why we used to go out and look for deer. Maybe it was just to use Dad's spot light. Maybe it was just to see some deer. Anyway, we only did it a few times. It wasn't something we did every year or every night. Just a couple of times.
That's what I was thinking about on my drive home tonight. Nothing jumped out at me, but King was in our driveway and ran towards the car. King has this game he likes to play. I call it the "I'll-lay-out-in-the-road-and-you-try-not-to-kill-me" game. And I think he's the only one who enjoys it.
Anyway. Speaking of memories, it is September 11th and a mere 7 years ago today I remember watching the news showing the planes flying into the the twin towers. I remember being terrified. I remember going into my room and crying while Jacqueline watched the news. I remember that mom was at the dentist when all this was going on. I remember how the planes stopped flying (we lived behind an airport and we used to hear planes flying overhead all the time throughout the day) for the next couple of days. I remember the shock and horror of the families and friends who suddenly lost their loved ones.
And I am thankful that God has not allowed anymore attacks on our nation since then. I pray that He will continue to keep us safe. I know that all things work together for good for those that love Him though and I know that it was all a part of His plan.
I know a lot of families are grieving right now on this day. Remember them!

Another week over...almost.
So what can I say about this week? It wasn't very interesting. It was rough for me actually. I haven't been feeling very well and I know part of it is allergies. I am a little concerned that I may be coming down with a cold or something too. Mom is trying to make me keep up with my vitamins, which is good. I haven't been taking them lately because they make my tummy hurt. :( Maybe I should take them and just bear it though because my throat is kind of scratchy.
Homework has been a struggle this week too. My Microsoft Office class is really confusing me. I looked into tutoring at the school and no one seems to be available for the Microsoft Office course. My teacher isn't very informative and a little hard to get in touch with. That's the class that is really getting me down. The other classes are actually fairly enjoyable. I like my economics class (also online). The teacher is very friendly and even though none of us have ever met, she has special discussion threads each week where we can just talk to each other and get to know each other in addition to our regular class discussion thread. I like the way she set the class up.
Our Campus Crusade meeting this week was a struggle too. Not very many people came at all and I don't know if that was just a fluke or if that means a lot of people just lost interest. We don't really know what we're doing. I hope we can figure it out before everyone loses interest and doesn't want to be a part of it. I am really hoping it will be a good ministry at school. We are having a meeting today (so far only one other person is coming besides Adam and me although we called quite a few people. No one has gotten back to me.) to just try and open communications and get feedback from everyone. I was in touch with Randy (the guys who runs all the Campus Crusade ministries in WV) and he said he could come lead a few studies until we are on our feet and said that every new ministry has its struggles. That was encouraging.
I start work at my new job this week! A new office to learn, but at least I know the folks who work there already. And whats more is, I enjoy all the people who work there! Well, all the ones I know anyway. I am pretty excited. I think I will end up working about 20 hours a week and the office is really close to school and my doctor is really supportive of me finishing school. Actually she has be on my case for the past year trying to make sure I finish school! I'm really glad I can go back and work with her and Pam.
The weather here is really rainy. It's supposedly because of some tropical storm or hurricane (I haven't been paying much attention to the news if you couldn't already tell...lol) that is...somewhere. That's pretty pathetic that I don't know what's going on, but right now that is just the situation I am finding myself in. It's nice to have a rainy day. I used to really dislike them. I get sick of rain if it continues to rain for more than 3 days in a row. But a few rainy days are very nice I think. Especially when you are going to go to a coffee shop to meet with a friend to talk about the Bible and ministry in less than an hour. I may even bring my camera and my knitting and blog about the whole thing!
Then I'll come home and finish my homework. Which is only a speech paper and a Microsoft Office word document project. I am going to make it a point to finish my homework earlier in the week. It's weird that I had the whole week off and still put off a lot of homework till the end of the week. No more!
Plus I am going to start walking on the treadmill again. Hmm...maybe those vitamins Mom made me take did make me feel a little better...I feel slightly more motivated than I did before.
Have a happy weekend~
